Our History
How It All Started
Hot Dog Cart Rental was founded in 2012 by lifelong Chicagoan Tim Frey, who grew up eating Chicago-style dogs from the cart on his corner. After years in the restaurant industry, he saw an opportunity to bring that same neighborhood magic to weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
What started as a single cart at a friend's backyard wedding quickly grew through word of mouth. Couples loved the novelty and the food. Event planners loved the reliability. And guests — well, guests just loved the hot dogs.
Today we operate a single carts across Chicagoland, serving everything from intimate 50-person birthday parties to 300-guest wedding receptions. Every event gets the same attention to detail, the same fresh ingredients, and the same genuine hospitality that Tim brought to that first backyard party.
